I received a petition for a "CandyCandy Sequel" yesterday from http://www.angelfire.com/bc/candycandy. The administrators of this site launched this project to make a petition to Yumiko Igarashi and Toei Animation (w/c produced Candy Candy along with Dragon Ball Z and Sailormoon) to produce an exciting sequel we, fans, have long been waiting for. Personally, I wasn't satisfied with the way the story ended. I think there were so many holes left opened with only our imaginations can fill. Wouldn't it be better if the authors fill these holes themselves? Yes, we could think of a sequel or write a fan fiction, but wouldn't it be nice if the sequel was written by the makers of CandyCandy themselves?

Remember, there's no harm in trying and we might just realize what we all hope for! The possibility of a CandyCandy sequel is not based on loose ground - I, myself, saw with my own eyes some brand-new (produced maybe in 1998 or 1999) merchandise of CandyCandy like wallets, stationaries, pencil cases, and ballpens in a department store in Hong Kong when I was there. I also heard that the Japanese tankuobon mangas were republished again. An OAV was released too right? (I think it's between 1994-1996). There's still so many people who have not forgotten this wonderful freckled girl and still loves her! Need I say more?

I heard at cinescape that Mononoke Hime (Princess Mononoke) will hit the US theaters on October this year! If you want to hear more about this anime's theatrical release, go to cinescape and click on 'movies'. Below are two pictures of 'San'/'Sang', the heroine. The story is basically about war between animal/animal gods and humans.
It's a very nice movie from Hayao Miyazaki. He's also known for his other works (should I say masterpieaces) like Nausicaa, My Neighbor Totoro, Laputa Castle in the Sky, and many others. I'm a big fan of his! Most of his films focus on the importance of ecology, of the natural life. I've watched Mononoke Hime, five times now! You won't regret watching it at all especially if you are a nature-lover, an animal-lover, an environmentalist, and someone with a deep compassion with living creatures (earth, plants) and the elements. This is the movie for u! Watch out for the graphics! They're awesome!
